Landlocked Austria has approximately 8.7 million inhabitants in Central Europe. Bordered by many neighbours; the Czech Republic and Germany to the north, Slovakia and Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west.
The land covers 83,878 sq km (32,385 sq mi) which is relatively small and that’s because most of the terrain is ‘UP’. Largely due to the presence of those well-known ‘hills’ called the Alps. Its highest point the Grossglockner is 3,798m (12,460 ft).
The official country language is German however other languages spoken are Croatian, Hungarian and Slovene.
The countryside of green and white in summer or all white in winter is stunning. A mountinous picture post card stunning landscape.
