Cuba is the largest Caribbean Island, between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean.  It lies 145km (90 miles) south of Key West, Florida.

Many other enticing islands surrounding too; the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, Haiti and Jamaica.

After 1959, Cuban tourism diminished drastically and was mostly for people within the Soviet block.  As a result, Cuba did not renew many facilities until the 1990s when Cuba opened its doors to foreign tourism.
Now many European, Canadian, and even American visitors come to the island. In the typical tourist regions like Varadero and Holguín or in some cities many Cuban homes offer rooms called casa particulares.  Airbnb before it existed.
The history is intriguing for travelers, it’s a story well told outside of the country but which story heard is true.  Propaganda was rife.  Many sights and sounds for the heritage and culture buff.  Combined with the margaritas, warm seas and the inviting beaches, I urge you to visit!
